Solar Panel – 5 watts
Here’s what our 5 watts solar panel looks like.
Mono Crystalline Solar Panel
DC 12V
0.29A
Weather Proof
When we started installing solar panel in our home, we started with a smaller wattage solar panel. With electricity bill rising up here, using solar energy was a much needed option for us to save on money, by using free electricity.
With this 5 watts solar panel size, using a solar controller/charger and an inverter, we were able to use 1 LED bulb 220V, 3 watts, which was good enough to be used in our dining room.
And then after some time we added another 1.5 watts LED bulb, 220V in one of the bedrooms.
This is how an LED bulb looks like. There’s a 12V and a 220V, we used the 220V and just removed our old bulbs and replaced it with this one.

LED Bulb
We now have two rooms with lights using solar energy – that’s free electricity for hours every day. If you are interested in using solar energy in your homes, just leave us a comment below.
Next post will be, demo on how we used solar energy to light up those LED Bulbs.

Thanks!I’m wondering if I can charge the battery while using it or should I connect another battery in parallel in order to do what I said?
Yes! You can charge your battery while using the panel. But the charging current or charging power will also be divided depending how many loads you are going to use.
Good day, I was thinking if it can recharge a 12 volt Lead-Acid battery and how long would it take to charge that? Also, did you use a battery or you just connected the charge regulator/controller directly to the inverter?
Yes! A 12 volts solar panel can charge a 12 volts lead acid battery. Charging time will depend on how big your battery is and how big the wattage of your solar panel will be.
The purpose of using a charge controller for charging a battery, it will prolong the life span of a battery by controlling the input voltage and over charging the battery thru auto-cut off relay. Now the purpose of the power inverter is just to step up the flow of voltage for appliance use or other electronic items that uses 220v or in other countries 110v.
