Sep 9, 2012 – Solar Energy Seminar

Here are the photos of the Solar Energy Seminar scheduled last September 9 at Tsarina Grand Villas.  There were some who made reservation but was not able to attend due to unavoidable circumstances, but the seminar went well and was a success. The venue – Tsarina Grand Villas, Multi-Purpose Hall, Mangahan, Gen. Trias, Cavite. While waiting for the others to arrive, the speaker and the attendees had a little chat, getting to know each other… Lecture Proper – Level 1 The seminar started past 9 am as some of the attendees came from the city most of them commuted just to get to the venue and we have to wait for them before we start. Level 1 of the Seminar, during the lecture there were also question and answer portions and actual demo on how to connect everything (wirings, solar panels, charge controller, inverter, circuit breaker). The attendees were asked to do some computations (calculator… time :D).  This is to compute how many wattage of solar panels they need for the electrical things (lights, appliances, etc) they want to use solar power. Explanation of the wiring connections.  The students were asked to connect the wiring themselves.  More questions and answers at this area. Teaching the connection of the solar panel… A 10 watts solar panel was used for the demo.

Testing the solar panel connection with a remote control LED bulb and an electric fan.

The lecture lasted almost 3 hours.

Finally….

Lunch Time!

After lunch, the next level of the seminar started right away.

Level 2 – Hands On – Tabbing Solar Cells

Most of the students who attended level 1 also took the level 2 seminar.  Kit is included, and can make a 5 watts solar panel.  In this level the students are taught how to tabbed the solar cells, and other connections, how to connect in parallel or series if there are many solar panels, and other computations.  Some of the students bought a kit for a 65 watts solar panel.

Here the students were taught how to properly handle the solar cell so it is not easily broken as it is very fragile, the polarity of the cells, and finally the soldering/tabbing of the solar cells.

Hands on time!  Assisting the students in the hands on if need be while they are working on their projects.  Each one is very much in concentration :D.

Chatting while working :D.  There were a few broken cells during hands on :D.  The hands on lasted till 5 pm.

And.. finally, their finished project!  Testing for the voltage output of the finished product.

Well, not only did they learned from the seminar on how to make solar panels, but they also had fun during the seminar :D.
